Whether you feel that we are at the end of the global pandemic or are still embracing homebody life and mainly staying in, you can’t deny that this past year has been a unique experience to say the least. As we have been spending our time at home, it’s easy to see why we have been inclined to do more DIY than ever before. Why not beat the boredom and beautify our space at the same time, right? Anyway, I am not the only person to see the rise of DIY around the country.
During the past year I have moved house 6 times, 6! Which is a shame as I haven’t been able to get into DIY like I would have liked. But the rest of the country did, and today I wanted to share with you some of the most popular DIY trends that have taken the country by storm during lockdown. I hope this post inspires you to delve in and do it yourself!
Wall panelling
If you look up wall panelling online you will find a tonne of ideas to help you DIY your way onto this trend. Forget the wall panelling of the 80’s and 90’s, this isn’t an entire room but an accent wall that gives your room some personality.
If you want to you can create a design on an accent wall, or keep it more traditional by only panelling the lower half of a wall. Not only does this give your room more personality, but it also helps raise the value of your home!
Pallet furniture

I’ll admit, I never was one to really find the appeal of pallet furniture. But, yes, a lot of other people have and it shows! From pallet sofas, to beds, there’s a lot of ideas that you can bring to life. There is a lot of versatility when it comes to this trend, you can use the furniture indoors or outdoors. It’s up to you, but there are options a plenty.
Garden bar
What’s better than going to the pub on a summer’s day than to sit in the beer garden with a pint? Nothing, right? Well, lots of things, but this has to be at the top of the list. That’s why many of us have opted to create a garden bar to enjoy some time out in our garden during these lockdown months.
People have gone mad for this DIY craze. From transforming sheds into their own private garden bar, to adding a designated seating area, to going all out and making a full fledged bar, the UK has loved, and loves this DIY trend!
So, there you go!
