3 Date Ideas for Couples to go on During the Festive Season

Sharing is caring!

The festive period has me all giddy and excited. It’s our first year spending the Christmas season in Spain and I’m so excited to discover what the customs and festivities bring. There’s something strange about spending the winter in a place where we usually only spend the summer.

It makes me miss the crisp British air during this period. But regardless of where one may live, dating over the festive period can be a lot of fun, especially when it means romantic times with your other half. Here are some date ideas for couples during the festive season.

Christmas Markets

Going on a Christmas market date can be such a great way to cuddle up close and cosy up to each other whilst enjoying the festivities. There are so many Christmas markets throughout the UK and it seems that each year they tend to get bigger and better. I absolutely love Edinburgh so going to the Edinburgh Christmas market would be such a treat.

This year there are 2 Christmas markets, along with a plethora of other festive events. There’s also the Hyde Park Christmas Bonanza for Londoners, and tourists alike and it offers quite the winter wonderland!

If like me, you’re on the continent for the holidays then you’re even more spoilt for choice when it comes to Christmas Markets. From the beautiful UNESCO heritage sights of Bruges in Belgium, you can enjoy waffles with hot chocolate whilst waiting for your turn on the ice skating rink. Or you can come down to my current adopted country of Spain and enjoy the chorizo and churros at the Madrid Christmas Market.

Evening Shopping

Whether you’re shopping together for Christmas gifts or only window shopping hand in hand, taking advantage of the shops being open late is a must! From the beautiful window displays on Oxford Street to the glitz and glam of the Trafford Centre, there is so much to see.

I happen to get quite dazzled by all of the beautiful light displays, I can vividly remember my first London moment and seeing the lights Picadilly Circus, what a sight! Rounding up the night with a hot drink and a baked good is a sweet way to end the night.

Take a Day Off

The holidays can sometimes be an overwhelming time for varied reasons. A good way to escape the hustle and bustle is to book a room and take a day off. If you book in advance you can get a great deal on a nice room, so why not leave the stress behind and enjoy a pamper session and a day away from the hoopla of Christmas? It may not be a typical date idea for the holidays, but it certainly is a date idea worth considering!
