Documenting my Summer with the Fujifilm X-70

In this day and age photography is a hobby that most everyone has dabbled in. From photographing our day to day to capturing the perfect selfie it’s fair to say that if you are reading this you most probably like photography. Most of us are obsessed with this fantastically rewarding hobby, but as bloggers, we tend to push that obsession a little bit to the extreme, I know I do!

John Lewis gave me the opportunity to try out the FujiFilm X-70 and photograph my summer adventures. I have really enjoyed photographing people, places, and things with it. This handy camera has been from my local country park here in Lancashire to the Yorkshire Dales, and even as far afield as Spain, Texas, and Las Vegas. Even though Summer isn’t over yet, I have had such a great time with the FujiFilm X-70 so far. Let me share with you what makes the camera my new blogging best friend.

As a blogger that predominantly focuses on travel and lifestyle the compact size of this camera has been my primary attraction to it. It is sleek, looks smart, and is the perfect companion for outings without compromising quality. Without getting too techy, this is pretty much a DSLR quality camera inside a petite frame – making it a dream for those of us on the go, as well as making it one of the best compact cameras out there.

The flip-up screen on this camera makes it perfect for vlogging, as well as perfect for selfies. It took me a bit of getting used to as I was accustomed to my mobile phone for selfies. But once I got the hang of it I really do like it.

The lack of a viewfinder can make shooting quite difficult if you are trying to take photos in a bright location, such as outdoors. But this isn’t an issue, especially as it is reminiscent of taking photos with a smartphone. So that familiarity helps quite a lot. That and the lack of zoom capability are the only downsides I can think of.

The FujiFilm X-70 includes WiFi as part of its array of very useful features. All you need to do is download the FujiFilm app to your mobile, and sync your camera to share your photos with your phone. I tend to edit the photos a bit on my mobile, and then up to social media, they go. It’s brilliant really if you want to step up the quality of the photography on your Instagram account.

Colours are very vivid and vibrant without having to tweak and edit too much after your photo has been taken. The only editing I have done to any of these photos is to adjust the brightness a bit. Then you can see the vibrancy and how natural the images replicate real life.

I have been using the camera in the ‘auto’ setting, and so far have loved it. It has been very simple to just point and shoot and get such amazing quality. The compact size of the camera makes it easy to wear it ‘tourist style’ around your neck, pop it in your handbag. Or even just stick it in your pockets!
