I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo for the first time, true story. I may be a bit older than your typical demographic, but there’s something about making such a big decision at this age that leads me to believe that the regrets would be non-existent. I suppose you’d better prepare properly in advance for such a big decision, but something tells me that once you are sure, you’re sure. I’ve been gathering info here and there and today I want to share with you some of the newest tips that have been shared with me to ensure that if you are going in for your first tattoo, like I may be soon, that the process is easy peasy and painless. For the most part!
Do Your Research
- Look for the artist who specializes in the area where you want to place your tattoo.
- Have an idea of what you want and make a photo of it or print it.
- Choose a proper place where you want to put it. For example, if you want to place butterfly tattoos on your face, hands, or neck, you’ll probably be denied.
Get Prepared on the Day
- That means eating well till you feel full.
- The experts suggest drinking orange juice before you’ll get tattooed.
- Refuse drinking alcohol.
- Think about the tattoo artist and make sure you’ve had a shower.
Bring a Quality Photo of a Desired Tattoo
- Make sure the photo is not blurred.
Come to the Tattoo Shop Alone
- If you have children, it’s better to leave them at home because you’re not allowed to bring them there.
- The lesser friends at the shop, the better.
Prepare for Pain
Michael Bartiromo notes that there’s going to be pain and it hurts. However, the pain is different for everyone. So get emotionally ready for it.
Check Your Tattoo Artist Out
- Make sure the artist has poured new ink into a new disposable container.
- Look around to find out whether everything is clean.
Check the Design, Spelling, and Body Placement before the Tattoo Begins
According to Jonathan B. Levyn, a doctor of osteopathic medicine in Philadelphia, you can remove a tattoo with a laser procedure, but it will cost you a pretty penny. Besides, not all the tattoos are removable.
Stay Still
If you will not keep being calm, the artist would be impossible to create straight lines on your body.
Care for Your Tattoo after the Procedure
- Avoid sunny places and water at first 2-3 weeks.
- Keep the tattoo clean and moist as it heals.
- Don’t forget to use SPF 50 sunscreen when you go outside if you want to prolong the tattoo’s life.
These tips seem quite simple and straightforward. If you have a tattoo I’d love to hear your top tip for those of us who are contemplating getting one for the first time and adding some ink to our blank canvas.
