It’s mid-January and that awkward time of the year when you don’t know whether you are coming or going. The holidays have just recently made their exit only to make us wait for another 11 months. It’s still dreary outside and some of the coldest days may lie ahead. If you’ve got an “other half” then it’s the perfect time to hibernate a bit and get all loved up. If you don’t have an “other half” then it’s common that the January blues may gain traction and add that much more gloominess to the month. So, what can one do? Many people can get hung up on being single, but it needn’t be a time of sadness and loneliness. Here are 5 ways to beat the January blues if you are single and make more of the first month of the year.
Plan Ahead
Whether you are one for making resolutions or not there’s still something quite soothing about taking some time alone to evaluate what your goals for the year ahead are. From making travel plans for the coming year or even just organising yourself to achieve your professional goals it’s always nice to have that quiet time fully focus on yourself and making plans to be better.
Put Your Plans into Action
If your plan for the next year is to train for a marathon or start taking a course then why not take the bull by the horns and just start then and there. It’s a great way to meet people and expand your social circle. Sometimes we put so much emphasis on expanding our social circle and think that it needs to be an everlasting thing. It needn’t be. Sometimes all we need is a little bit of human interaction and if that includes flirting daily with that hottie at the gym so be it. By focusing on your plans you get on with your life and it’s quite proven that when you do that you attract others.
Make a Conscious Effort to Find Someone
If this is your year to find true love and that is one of your goals and plans then, by all means, go for it! It takes work to get anything we want in life and why not be proactive and go straight into online dating to find a potential mate? There are so many online dating sites nowadays that if you really want to find someone the options are there.
