Hello, darlings! It’s been a while since I wrote an expat life update post. I figured that if I didn’t write one for all the updates I have to share with you now then it would be pointless to do so at any other time. There have been so many changes that have happened, or better yet, that we made happen and I am so eager to share with you.
We’ve moved!!
If you follow me on Instagram (shameless plug) you may have seen my post yesterday letting you know that we moved. Let’s rewind a little bit and let me tell you where we are and why we are here. If you’re a regular amongst these parts you’ll know that I hail from Texas and have spent almost 6 years in the beautiful UK. I love the British Isles and have enjoyed every day that I have spent there.
The thing is, a couple of years ago we moved from Cambridgeshire to Lancashire and that’s where things changed. There are many things I love about the north. The people are nicer (sorry guys, but there is something so warm about the people “up north”), the food is better, and overall it’s just lovely. The biggest downfall has been the weather. Yeah, I know I go on about the weather, but the thing is that the winters in the UK are harsh. I naively thought that a southern winter and a northern winter would be the same. I was wrong. Dead wrong.
Winters up north are harsh. They are dark. They are damp. They are seemingly never-ending and they were not doing anything for our mental health. After last winter we decided that we just couldn’t take another winter up north. So we did what any other wanderer does. We moved.
Life in Spain
Out of all the places that we could have ended up, we opted for the beautiful and aptly named Costa del Sol. We have family links to the area so that made our move that much sweeter. After spending our holidays here and loving the area we decided that this is where we would call home for the next few months. Life in Spain is so different than we imagined. Living as a local is completely different than being here as a tourist! Firstly, the pace of life is definitely something that takes a little bit of getting used to.
Blogging Life
Due to the move, I have been able to focus so much time and effort on my blog. Making my blog my full-time business has been a huge goal of mine and I am really working hard to make that a reality. I suppose there’s not much to say on that front other than there are so many exciting things that I can’t wait to share with you blog wise. I suppose that all these changes have not only given me a second wind but my blog as well.
I will be updating you with expat life update posts as we get immersed in the life and culture here. We don’t know how long we will be here and frankly, I already miss England. Who knows? We may go back as soon as the winter is over. We may go before that or even after. I suppose that with life being an adventure it’s all about just taking it one day at a time and making the wisest decisions one can. It hasn’t been an easy change, but it’s definitely been worth it!
What would you like to see about our life in Spain? This little space on the internet is as much mine as it is yours so do let me know.
