Sharing is caring!

It’s been a few weeks since I post the first installment of like, love, loathe and what was going to be a weekly list has become more of a monthly one. Oops. That wasn’t supposed to happen, but as you know, life gets in the way. For now I’m back on the saddle and ready to get this week’s like love loathe 2 going. Let’s begin!

I’m liking so many things this week it’s ridiculous! Some should probably be on my love list, but I’m reserving that for something of much more importance.

Let me begin by sharing that my productivity has been through the roof! If you are usual followers of the blog you’ll know that over the years this space has gone from the favourite child to the one you didn’t even know you had. I’ll share with you now that the reason for that can tend to be based on what is going on in my life. The blog has gone from side hobby to part time job and I couldn’t be more proud! I owe a lot of my concentration to working in cafe’s as it seems to be the only place where I can really get in the zone to write. Before this turns out into an acceptance speech where I thank all the cafe’s in Manchester let’s move on.

It wouldn’t be a Yaya post if I didn’t talk about the weather. My excuse is that I’m not from here and I’m still adjusting to how different English weather is to the weather in Texas. The reality though is that it’s quite a “Britishness” that I seem to have adopted. I am loving the weather so far and even though it’s not fully spring in the North, especially not in the North West, the days are getting longer and the flowers are blooming. For now, that’s enough to keep me going.

Love

If you’re a movie, or even a Disney fanatic then you might already know what I am loving at the moment. Today is the release of Beauty and the Beast! I’m not jumping on a bandwagon here, this is truly my absolute favourite Disney film and I can’t contain my excitement. I was considering being there for the first showing but life was calling so I have opted to go watch it tonight. Are you watching the film? Let me know what your film recommendations for this weekend are.

Loathe

I steer clear from controversial topics because I want to make this a positive and open community for all. The last thing I will normally discuss on the blog is the business of blogging. Most of my readers tend to be bloggers, but there are a lot that aren’t and as this isn’t a blogging business blog then it normally has no place here. What I do want to talk about even if it is in a very minimal manner is the subject of working for free.

Blogging is a job for many of us, even though it’s also a passion it is work, and we have learnt so many skills, most of us self taught, on how to run a successful blog. That being said, we will not and should not be expected to work for free! I am not a namer and shamer, nor am I a greedy person. I am someone who has worked hard for years to take a passion for writing and convert it into a side hustle that helps keep the site going. Let’s just say that collaborations and sponsored work are the gift that keeps on giving. I am not getting rich off my blog, and I don’t think that I should expect such little respect to be offered “the opportunity to be seen by our social media followers” as payment for my work.

I’ll stop this here before I go on an even longer rant, after all, this may be my blog, but it isn’t speakers corner. I would like to know what my fellow bloggers have to say on this subject. Please do share with me as the more we make our views known the less we will be taken for a ride.

What has been on your like love loathe 2 list this week? Do share in the comments below. And a special shout out to Bex for the positive comments and letting me bring her former link up back to life on this little blog. x
