If you’re pregnant for the first time, the next 9 months are going to be both incredibly exciting and incredibly frightening all at the same time. Of course, you know that! Being a parent is a wonderful thing, but it doesn’t come without its battles. However, that’s why you’ve got friends and family to rely on, as well as access to online advice.
We want to make this time easier on you, and whether you’re worried about your diet or the sleepless nights you’ll have, you’re never going to be alone in facing it all. And that’s why we’ve put together this checklist of the things you’re going to need to shop for most, to ensure the little one has everything they need to settle in properly.
The Wardrobe
You might be wondering just how many clothes your baby is going to need; it’s hard to estimate the number right now, as all babies are different! But as long as you’ve got a few essential items in the wardrobe, you can go out and buy more later when baby does arrive.
So for now, get your hands on 5 to 6 onesies, with the same number of sleep suits. Get a couple of hats ready to go, and invest in as many blankets as you really like! If you want to swaddle your baby, you can then double up with the blankets as well. Any other clothes are simply accessories, and you can buy as many as you like.
Getting Out and About
You’re going to want to take your baby out a few times a week, to make sure they get fresh air, plenty of light, and some experience of the world. And to do that, you’re going to need plenty of equipment on your side!
So, it’s time to look into Buggies, and find one you like that’ll provide both a comfy recline for the baby as well as plenty of storage space for you. Whilst you’re at it, be sure to get either a baby sling or carrier that’ll allow you to tie the little one to your chest and go for short walks with them when they’re young.
And for longer journeys, you’re going to need a reliable car seat to strap the little one into. The bonus of having a car seat is that you can remove it whenever you need to have a spare hand! And thankfully, baby gets to sleep a little bit longer without being disturbed.
Bathtime Essentials
Bathtime is easy to buy for! The first thing you’ll need is a bath mat, to prevent baby from slipping around when you pop them in the water. Then, you’ll also want plenty of little toys to keep their attention, and a soft flannel to gently wash them down with. Cotton is usually the best material to go for with any cloths and towels.
Take your time baby shopping, and you’ll get everything you need before the little one arrives.
