As you’re reading this I am probably lounging on a beach somewhere or taking a dip in the pool in a lovely destination. It may be a bit late in the year, but surely you can’t blame me for seizing the chance to have a little bit of fun in the sun. Taking care of my nails both on my hands and feet is a must all the time, but particularly if you’ll be baring it all in the sun. Today I want to share with you what I consider the perfect summer nails and how exactly I achieve them.
Opt For Bright Colours
I’m olive skinned so as soon as I catch some sun I start getting a toasty tan. I wear SPF 50 for protection, but as soon as I get inside I can see how my skin has toasted and tanned. There is a wide array of colours one can choose from for your perfect summer nails, but I love the contrast between a dark tan and bright nails. My go to nails this summer came from the Nails Inc. Sole Survivor Kit. The hot pink of Chelsea Grove has been on my fingernails, while the stunning coral of Charlotte Villas has been gracing my tootsies. Both colours are stunning together, and the fact that they are only 14mL is perfect if you’re a light traveller like myself.
Go For A Long Lasting Formula
Topping up your manicure is not the way one wants to spend their holiday, so a gel effect is a more long lasting option than your typical polish. The gel formula not only gives a gorgeous sheen and shine, but also lasts longer than a regular nail polish formula. I’ve been to the beach, pool, and walking in sandals for a week and the colour has lasted that long without needing to be topped up!
Keep it Smooth
The one thing no one really wants to see is someone else’s crusty feet. Am I right? Forget about what others may think, it really makes no sense to have a good pedicure and not have the entire look down pat. A good nail file works wonders and it works just as well to get your feet beach ready before you board your flight as well as having it on hand to scruff away the rough bits on your holiday.
