I like to read up on non-invasive treatments that can care for your skin. Especially those without so much as a scalpel or needle in sight. As the options out there become more advanced and unique, I thought it would be a good idea to highlight some of the treatments that clinics in the UK provide right now. I’ll specifically be looking at options to combat wrinkles and fine lines in a way that has minimal risk and has to be non-invasive specifically.
Hopefully, it will help give you an idea of what’s out there so you can do your own research into non-surgical firming solutions.
The treatments I’ll be looking at are:
- Ultherapy
- HIFU
- Cryolift
- Microneedling
- Facial Massage
Ultherapy
This is a treatment that is quite popular in America. And only making its way to these shores in recent time. While it is trendy to take a word or syllable and pop “therapy” at the end, Ultherapy is an ultrasound-based treatment that looks to eliminates wrinkles in bringing our old friend collagen to the fore. Collagen helps strengthen the elasticity of tissue under the skin. It’s a bit like take a rubber band that’s all twisted and zapping it back into shape again.
There are a growing number of clinics offering the Ultherapy treatment, and you can find a nearby clinic on their website by following the link above.
HIFU
High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a completely non-invasive treatment for your face and neck that uses ultrasound energy. Ultrasound can target collagen to stimulate it with targeted beams of energy that make collagen want to contract. When that happens, things start to firm up. And wrinkles are pushed/smoothed out as your skin is creating stronger bonds once again.
It’s ideal for someone who wants something quick that requires the least downtime. You can find out more about HIFU at Snowberry Lane.
Cryolift
If you can’t stand the heat… then go cold instead. I’m not sure how I feel about blasting a face with something so cold! But a Cryolift is one of the more unique approaches I’ve seen for non-invasive treatments in a while.
While those previously mentioned use some form of heat to stimulate, a Cryolift treatment takes the opposite approach. By blasting concentrated levels of CO2 on the skin. The shock is supposed to “wake up” problem areas and cause a lifting effect. This is done as blood rushes to the surface around those pores you’re making cold.
If you imagine what your arms feel like when you’re out in the cold, take it to the nth degree with this treatment.
Microneedling
Technically not a full cut on the skin, Microneedling is another way of tightening up the skin without cosmetic surgery. It’s almost halfway towards being invasive without leaving any marks. Imagine a tiny roller pin with little needles on the end; that’s a basic microneedle treatment.
By rolling the needles over your skin like a hairbrush, the treatment is causing hundreds of tiny pinpricks that are asking the tired tissue to get going again. Blood will rush to the area to rejuvenate and bring tired skin back to life.
It does have good results when used periodically. It should be known that a little bleeding may be expected and a person’s face will look extremely flushed for a few days after treatment.
Facial Massage
I thought I would end on the least invasive of treatments; especially if you’re looking to get rid of that tired look your skin has had for a while. Facial massages are overlooked as something you could use to improve appearance. But taking a massage treatment that uses hyaluronic acid or deep scrubs in tandem can boost the look and feel of skin.
The only sticking point is that unlike some of the modern techniques you only need to do once or twice, a facial massage needs to be part of a routine and carried out at least once a week to show signs of improvement. It’s like getting a workout for your face after all.
