You could say that many of us are clean people. We clean our homes, our clothes, our bed sheets and towels. But how clean is clean, and realistically, how often do we clean said items. An article by The Guardian states that half a million Britons admitted to washing their sheets 3 times a year! Whilst this Glamour UK article says you should wash your bath towels 3-5 times a week. Today’s post is actually a little bit different, we are not only talking about cleanliness but about why having clean towels is important for your health.
Why it’s important to have clean towels
We all know that cleanliness is a good habit to have overall. Not only does being clean, and keeping our surroundings clean say a lot about ourselves and can help our self-esteem, but our health is also affected by cleanliness. We all try to focus on the basic cleanliness aspects, but what about those that are so simple that we tend to overlook.
How often do you wash your towels?
Once a week, twice a week, twice a month? Maybe it’s so sporadic that you may not even truly remember the last time that you have them a wash. Well, did you know that the average bath towel contains over 450 times more bacteria than a toilet seat?! It may surprise you!
Did you know that that bacteria can then make it’s way onto your skin when you use the towel without washing it often and properly? This bacteria can then translate to acne breakouts, allergic reactions, and in the worst cases, illness.
A better alternative – Soji Towel
There are many products that claim to either make a positive impact in your life or for your health. It’s not easy to separate the wheat from the chaff, which is why I love sharing these types of posts with you to help you make your purchasing decisions that much simpler. The product that we are sharing with you today is the Soji Towel.
We haven’t reviewed the Soji Towel, so we are not vouching for it based on that, but as consumers ourselves we are always interested in discovering new and exciting products. Which is why we wanted to talk about Soji.
What are Soji Towels?
Soji are a new brand that bring you an antimicrobial (and clean) towel that can also boast of being the softest one in the market. Made with Xinjiang cotton, which is widely regarded as being the softest cotton in the world, the Soji towel brings softness and antimicrobial properties together. Much more impressive than that is this line of bath towels and hand towels are woven with antimicrobial silver.
The Soji towels eliminate 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, mould, fungus, allergens, and more on contact. Soji’s antimicrobial power is 100% natural, safe, and permanent. The Soji towel line consists of bath towels and
hand towels woven with antimicrobial silver. Soji eliminates 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, mold, fungus, allergens, and more on contact. Silver is woven directly into the cotton fibers, so the anti-microbial effect will never fade or wash away.
Antibacterial benefits of silver
Silver is known to be a natural antimicrobial agent as the silver nanoparticles have the ability to penetrate bacterial cell walls and sometimes even kill them. Real silver fibres are woven into the Soji towel and those fibres not only penetrate but also prevent the microbial life from replicating.
Soji is guaranteed to be sterile for every use, even without regular washing. Because towel odors are
caused by mold and bacteria, Soji will remain odor-free for life. Silver also renders the towel
completely hypoallergenic for those with sensitive skin and sinuses. In addition to staying clean forever, silver supports skin health. It has been shown to reduce wrinkles and age lines by promoting skin elasticity. It also reduces inflammation—a common cause of acne, skin discoloration, and dermatitis.
Soji Towels on Kickstarter
Soji was designed and manufactured by a small international team of entrepreneurs and textile
specialists. The team is currently based in Hong Kong and hoping to open a USA office upon
the success of their first crowdfunding campaign.
Soji was founded in 2019 by two partners who were shocked to learn just how dirty bath towels
were after just a few days of use. They set out immediately to replace their towels with
antimicrobial ones. But, their new towels were stiff and uncomfortable.
After months of searching, they realized that there wasn’t a towel that was both resistant to
bacteria and comfortable (especially on sensitive skin). So, they decided to make one.
After months of designs and relationship-building across the globe, the founders combined
premium silver with the world’s most comfortable cotton to make the first luxury antimicrobial
Soji is now accepting backers on kickstarter so do have a look and visit www.sojitowel.com/kickstarter.
