Blackpool is one of the UK’s most famous holiday destinations, but as you might remember, the last time we had a day out in Blackpool it wasn’t all that we expected it to be. We’ve been told that Blackpool makes for a great holiday thanks to the incredible number of things to do, so we figured we would take up the advice and give it another go. Here are some of the top things we’ve been told we should do when spending a weekend in Blackpool.
Saturday Daytime – Head to the Pleasure Beach
Depending on how much time you have to spend in Blackpool, we recommend taking a full day to see the Pleasure Beach. It is one of the UK’s most beloved theme parks and boasts rides that cater to adults and children alike. The Pleasure Beach is home to the UK’s tallest and fastest roller coaster, so make sure you ride The Big One. Other fun rides include The Big Dipper, Grand National and Avalanche. However, if you are going to ride Valhalla, be sure to take a change of clothing because this is a water ride and you will get soaked! Buy wristbands that allow you entrance to the park and unlimited rides on any of the rides.
Blackpool Weekend: Saturday Evening – Enjoy a Nice Meal and then Hit the Town
After all the excitement at the Pleasure Beach, you will have worked up an appetite. There are many restaurants in the city which cater for foodies looking to find something special. However, the White Tower restaurant is one of the best places to eat in Blackpool. Enjoy amazing dishes prepared using local ingredients, and soak up the stunning panoramic views from your table. You will see the flashing lights of the Pleasure Beach, the Tower and the beach below.
After dinner, enjoy a stroll along the seafront to work off all that food. You can take in the impressive light show of Blackpool Illuminations. This annual show runs from August to November each year and is said to be the greatest free light show on Earth!
Finally, you will be ready to hit the town. Blackpool is one of the UK’s premier partying destinations. There is an abundance of clubs, bars and casinos to visit. And you don’t just have to stop at one. If you like the look of multiple places, you have all night to explore! A weekend in Blackpool is the perfect amount of time to take it all in!
Blackpool Weekend – Sunday Morning – Big Breakfast
Chances are you probably won’t want to get up too early after your night out on your weekend in Blackpool. Instead, take the chance to enjoy a lie in and then get up to have a delicious Full English breakfast. Sausages, bacon, hash browns, eggs, beans. What could be better to sort you out for another day of sightseeing? And this will keep you full until dinner time.
Sunday Afternoon – Visit the Beach and Blackpool Tower
Blackpool is most famous for being a seaside resort, so you can’t visit it and not go to the beach. Stroll along the sand and admire the view of the Tower from the beach. Afterwards, head to the Tower where you can enjoy stunning views of the entire city and visit the world-famous ballroom.
Sunday Evening – Fish and Chips Supper
End your stay in Blackpool with a traditional fish and chips along the beach. Just be careful of any seagulls who are looking for a free meal.
Blackpool isn’t the only great holiday spot in the UK. Here are some of my favourite holiday destinations in the British Isles.
